In this painting Mr. Thomas has painted his place of birth at Nyirunya. In the painting both the water holes and the rock formatiions are associated with the Minyma Tjuta (Seven Sisters) story and in particular with the actions of Wati Nyirru, a cheeky old man that has pursued the sisters through the country. Nyirunya was an important water source for people providing reliable water through all seasons.
